The use of hydrocolloid acne patches in beauty caught on in South Korea around 10 years ago and has since become a K-beauty staple. Ju Rhyu founded Hero Cosmetics in 2017 with its flagship hydrocolloid Mighty Patch, and has since expanded to other patches including micropoint and daytime patches.

I’ve been using these pimple-poppers for years now, and watching them in action never fails to unveil my childlike sense of wonder. 

Hero Cosmetics has created a maskne-specific bundle as well, complete with two different pimple patches and a balm to help fade and heal post-blemish spots.

While this kit makes it easy to deal with maskne from the comfort of home, Hero Cosmetics also wanted to support those who are most susceptible to it and have to spend long periods of time in personal protective equipment. To do so, the brand is donating 2,500 “Mini Maskne Kits” to healthcare workers to help them fight maskne while they work to fight the pandemic.
